Studio recordings 1990s
These tracks were recorded
while I was living in
Richmond Heights. To me the 90s ended on September 11, 2001, shortly
after I moved back to El Cerrito. So I included some material recorded in
early 2001.
Kalle Nemvalts: trumpet, fluegelhorn, synths and synth programming,
drum machines, percussion, audio engineering, mixing, mastering.
All compositions by Kalle Nemvalts.
- Foliage, 03'50, recorded November 1994,
remixed April 26-27, 2011. Sheet music (PDF).
- Unexamined
Life, 06'03, recorded October
22, 2000, remixed April 26-27, 2011. The backing tracks — drum
machine, synth bass, synth chords, triggered synth "tweets" — were
improvised in the studio on August 12, 1988, and recorded to audio
cassette. I think my late friend Chuck Clark might have improvised the
chords while I played the bass, but I don't remember for sure. The
backing tracks were transcribed and rerecorded in 2000; trumpet and
shakers were overdubbed.
- Dark
Star, 06'39, recorded April 21, 2001, remixed April 26-29,
2011. Sheet music
(PDF).
- Afloat (remix), 03'09, fluegelhorn recorded
September 23, 2000, trumpet recorded September 28, 2000, remixed April
25, 2011.
- What
If? (remix), trumpet recorded June 18, 2000, fluegelhorn
recorded September 4, 2000, remixed April 25-27, 2011.
The software environment used for recording and mixing was Mark of
the Unicorn's Digital Performer.
